A Lesson From Silence: The Power of Voice

Before this fall, life was full of conversations, presentations, and the simple joy of using my voice. Talking is my favorite "sport," after all—it’s not just part of my work but how I connect, inspire, and lead.

But then the season took a turn.

Like so many others battling the wave of strep and walking pneumonia, I found myself hit hard.

My energy was drained, my body shifted into healing mode, and, worst of all, my voice was… 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐞.

Losing my voice is always strange for me—it feels like losing a piece of who I am.

As someone who spends their life teaching others to use their voices to connect and lead, it’s humbling.

I was in the "𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞," coming face-to-face with how easy it is to take something so vital for granted.

I’ve always preferred natural remedies, so recovery has been a slower, intentional journey for me. It’s not the quickest path, but it feels right—working with my body rather than forcing it into submission.

And in this deliberate process, I’ve been reminded of something I often share with my clients:

𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.

Quick fixes might seem tempting, but meaningful transformation comes from honoring the process.

This experience reinforced a truth I teach every day:

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬.

It’s the 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 that comes from those words when they’re infused with the right sounds.

Your voice is 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

It’s the 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 between who you are and how the world gets to know you.

If you’ve been holding back because you hate how your voice sounds, or because anxiety or self-doubt have created limiting beliefs about your ability to communicate, know this:

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝.

When you take care of it, your voice can transform from something you take for granted into a powerful asset—one that drives growth, builds relationships, and creates lasting impact.

If you’ve been holding back—afraid to speak up, dreading the next presentation, or unsure where to begin—𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞.

Don’t wait to find yourself in a deeper “𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞.” Start climbing out now.

Let me help you find your voice.
